Always a highlight of our school year Literacy Week includes a series of activities and events designed to promote and celebrate literacy within the school for all.
This past year that included a visit from the renowned Irish storyteller Niall De Burca to 1st year students, author talks from Donal Ryan and Roddy Doyle for senior cycle students, Creative Writing Workshops with author Fiona Scarlett, Literacy Poster and Bookmark Competitions, a highly contested Spelling Bee between students and their teachers and Year Heads, Word of the Day, Book Talks from 2nd year students, DEAR classes, Staff and Students Book Club. These were among just a few of the initiatives ran.
We are very excited that our school library has recently been renovated and the work has started to populate it with relevant reading materials to suit a range of interests and readers.
Watch this space, we in the Literacy Committee are delighted to always have more to follow...
